You may be wondering what criteria we use to find exclusive songs. Here are factors that make songs exclusive or not.

Exclusives

Exclusives are the content that has been specifically created for their respective content (defined as “originals”) or under an exclusive license contract. As such, artists may not have full rights to them.

Exclusive songs are identified when:

  1. Released under a record label.
  2. It has not appeared in any rhythm game other than its origin or other games have collaborated with it. The following lists the songs with the most violation counts.
  3. Regardless of its origin which suggests that it as non-exclusive, the artist explicitly states that a particular song is under the exclusive license contract.
  4. It is part of an OST album.
  5. The name of the company or game is written in the artist’s post.

Non-exclusives

Non-exclusives are the content released by the artist themselves and not associated with any company. Some songs may get non-exclusive contracts after self-release.

These are relatively easy to get permission as the artist has full rights to them.

Non-exclusive songs are identified when:

  1. It has appeared on a few or more rhythm games, but is not marked as an original or an exclusive.
  2. The artist has released their songs by themselves or under their self-established label.
  3. It is a BMS song. (This is always not the case however.)
